Agriturismo La Coppa is an integral part of the Galotta family's farm.
The farm is located in the municipality of Asciano, in the province of Siena, in the area of Crete Senesi. The entire business is family-run and spreads for an area of about 45 hectares.
The farm, located on the left side of the river Ombrone, has a flat and fertile area excellent for the production of vegetables, activity which the owners have been practicing for the past 50 years. In the hilly terrain, cereals, typical of the area of the Crete Senesi, are grown, and finally, in the olive groves located along the country road that leads to the structure, local cultivars such as Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino and Pendolino are cultivated; those varieties have been chosen for the production of extra virgin olive oil Tuscan.
At the farmhouse there is a small shop where it is possible to buy local farm products, such as extra virgin olive oil, saffron and seasonal vegetables.
The olive harvest takes place in October and November and is done manually by the family of the entrepreneur. The olives are pressed within 48 hours of collection at a mill in the area so as to transmit to the extra virgin olive oil produced all the organoleptic characteristics typical of the prized Tuscan oil.
The precious and valuable spice is cultivated directly at the farm. The manual collection of the beautiful lilac-colored flowers takes place at dawn, in the months of October and November, from their processing the stigmas are extracted, dried and then packaged and sold.
Vegetables are harvested daily by hand, and then either sold or served fresh during dinners/tastings at the Agriturismo.
